The Mitsubishi 18,000 BTU mini split specs are impressive. These are average numbers. Individual models may vary slightly.

Whatever size you need, we have it. For general purposes, assume that each room requires 6,000 BTUs for climate control. The filter column on the left that looks like math problems is actually a listing of paired indoor units and their BTU ratings.

For instance, 6+6 means that the system includes air handlers and hardware for two zones. Each number represents the BTU rating for each air handler (without the zeros). Therefore, a 6+6 system includes two air handling units with capacities of 6,000 and 6,000 BTUs.

For single zone systems, it will be one air handler, so the chart on the left won’t apply.

A few of the mini split AC systems are for cooling only. Most have heat pump capability, meaning that in winter, the air conditioning process runs in reverse, extracting heat from the outside air and distributing. Look for a model that includes Mitsubishi’s patented H2i Hyper Heat pump, which allows operation at winter temperatures as low as -15°.
