Radon is an odorless, colorless, radioactive gas that occurs naturally in bedrock and soil. It is the heaviest of the noble gases and is formed by the decay of uranium. Radon becomes a potential health problem when it is trapped and concentrated inside a building.
Most radon decay products are exhausted by breathing out, but in higher concentrations, more radon particles can become trapped in the lungs. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer worldwide.
According to the EPA, exposure to indoor radon levels greater than 4 picocuries per liter of air (pCi/l) is abnormal and represents a long-term health risk.
Our radon fans are an efficient and effective choice to mitigate the radon in your home. They are specifically designed for radon extract ventilation of basements, cellars, crawl spaces, and so forth. The installation of a radon fan vent system helps to disperse the radon harmlessly outside.
When medium airflow and suction are necessary, the Rn2 radon fan is especially suited to your needs. Electrical installation is easy with the large electrical wiring enclosure designed into the fan housing.
In addition, this fan's plastic housing is fully sealed via a vibration welding process. Using transverse, reciprocating motion under pressure at the point of contact, the heat produced by this innovative process melts the edges of the thermoplastic housing material. This melted material re-solidifies quickly, resulting in an inherently very strong, air-tight, fused single-piece housing. The air-tight nature of this sealing method ensures that contaminants are not spilled due to leakage.
