The Watson McDaniel PP pressure pilot is used in conjunction with a HD main valve to create a pressure reducing valve. The PP-Y (yellow spring) pressure pilot has a downstream operating range of 3-25 PSI. The PP series pressure pilot can maintain a downstream pressure within ± 1 PSI which makes it suitable for most industrial applications.
Note: a PT temperature pilot can be paired with a PP pressure pilot to create a temperature AND pressure reducing valve.
Within boiler feed systems, a pressure reducing valve is typically used on deaerators to control the tank pressure. When an atmospheric feed tank utilizes a low-pressure steam sparge tube, a pressure pilot may be used in addition to a temperature pilot for temperature and pressure control.
Note: a sensing line (not included) must be connected between the pilot assembly and the downstream piping.
