Good for a garage?
Yes, MRCOOL DIY ductless mini splits are an excellent solution for heating and cooling a garage. This system is easy to install and efficient to run. To determine if 36,000 BTU is the right size for your garage, a good rule of thumb is that 36,000 BTU will usually cover up to about 1,800 sq. ft. However, the climate zone, number of windows and insulation quality can affect this number. For instance, a garage in a severely cold or hot climate zone, with 10 windows and poor insulation will need a higher BTU output than a garage in a temperate climate zone with two windows and quality insulation. Does it come with the drain line or do I have to add it? Can I use 1" PVC for the drain line?
A drain line will be required for the indoor unit to transport condensation away from the unit. This condensate drain line is not included with this system, but can be purchased additionally as an accessory. You will need a drain line that is specifically designed for this purpose and unit. The condensate drain line is usually installed so that the equipment can be gravity drained right out of the back or the sides. However, if the condensate drain goes up against gravity a condensate pump is required to pump the condensation up and away until it reaches a drain or gravity takes over.
